Is Daily Harvest Worth It?
I recently tried Daily Harvest, a company that delivers real food meals built on fruits and veggies straight to my door, to test it out and see if it is a good, healthy option for my daily work lunches.
Today, I’m sharing my honest Daily Harvest review, the real-life cost per week & pricing comparison chart, and current promo code for you to try these healthy freezer meals yourself!

A special thanks to Daily Harvest for partnering with me to bring you this very requested review! As always, the opinions in this post are 100% my own.
Since 2011, I’ve been developing recipes for my websites, clients, and 5 published cookbooks. And while working in the world of food and recipe development has a lot of delicious perks; finding the time to make healthy meals and snacks while I’m at work is something I also struggle with.
A few years ago, a friend suggested Daily Harvest to keep healthy frozen meal options in the freezer for workdays so I could eat healthier without the need to cook! This brilliant idea has worked very well while working from home and from the office!
So, if you’re looking for a way to stock your home or office with over 100 delicious options that make eating more fruits and vegetables more delicious and convenient, this is the post for you! -I also have a Daily Harvest promo code for you!

What is Daily Harvest?
Daily Harvest delivers thoughtfully sourced food to your door, all built on fruits and vegetables and ready to enjoy in minutes. Everything is always plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, and is free of any artificial ingredients or preservatives.
How do the Daily Harvest Plans Work?
When you start a Daily Harvest plan, you get to choose your foods from all their collections online, selecting how many items you want to get in your order (9-26 items) and how often you want them (weekly, monthly). They ship the frozen foods directly to your door and all you do is transfer them to the freezer. Plans are flexible and you can skip a week or pause your plan at any time!
Tip: if you work outside the home, you can bring a few meals at a time with you to your office’s freezer or from day to day.
Why Daily Harvest is Great for Healthy Work Lunches
Whether you work from home or outside the home, Daily Harvest is a great option if you want to eat clean meals without disrupting your productivity and save money on eating out.
A weekly cost comparison chart below.
Getting delicious food delivered to my door regularly took away the element of worry and decision-making since everything is ready to enjoy within minutes.
I no longer ask myself “what am I going to eat today that’s healthy that doesn’t take up a lot of time.” I simply walk over to the freezer (either at home or the one at work) and grab one of my selections, and either heat-and-eat, blend, or bake away!
Pro tip: if you bring Daily Harvest to work, grab a sharpie and claim that delicious meal for yourself! 😉

Is Daily Harvest Healthy?
Daily Harvest meals are designed to be both delicious and nutritious. They’re the opposite of what you find in the freezer aisle at the grocery store and can easily meet your nutritional needs.
Whether you have health goals, macros to meet, or dietary restrictions, there’s a meal for you in one of the 100+ options. And if getting more fruits and vegetables into your day is one of your goals, Daily Harvest is a healthy option for you at any time of day.
Is Daily Harvest Low Carb?
If you’re following a low-carb lifestyle, Daily Harvest makes it super convenient to filter their meal options to fit your low-carb and keto needs.
Is Daily Harvest Good for Weight Loss?
Since all their meal options are single-serve, Daily Harvest makes tracking your caloric intake and macros really easy. Their nutritional information label is very clear in addition to the clean ingredient list.
If weight loss is a goal and you have a hard time bringing food to work or finding healthy options eating out, this is an excellent option for you.
Tip: many of their options are already logged inside many calorie & macros tracking apps.
Is Daily Harvest High in Sodium?
Daily Harvest meals do not include preservatives, fillers, gums, or artificial anything. While some of their meals are seasoned for flavor, others include the natural sodium found in the food itself.
Unlike restaurant food, traditional frozen meals, or even making your own lunches; Daily Harvest clearly displays the nutritional information, making it easier to track your daily sodium intake.
Is Daily Harvest a Good Protein Lunch?
Most of their meals, the protein content is between 8g and up to 20g per serving! Their Harvest Bakes takes home the medal with great macros and a larger serving size, which helps me refuel on heavy workout days.
For other work lunches, I can easily add protein by eating a hard-boiled egg or fried egg since I always keep them in the fridge for the week.

Daily Harvest Harvest Bakes Review
For days where I need a substantial lunch due to a morning workout or long run, or for when I get home late and dicing and slicing veggies is not in the cards, Harvest Bakes meals come to the rescue.
The Harvest Bakes are larger (by comparison) than the Bowls, come in four different varieties: Squash + Wild Rice Gratin (my kid’s fav!), Gigante Bean + Artichoke Olio, Chickpea + Coconut Curry and Cremini + Smoked Paprika Ropa Vieja.
So far, the Cremini + Smoked Paprika Ropa Vieja has touched my soul’s taste buds with the plentiful veggies in a luscious tomato & red pepper sauce. It’s both satisfying and kept me full all the way until dinner both because it’s generous portions and 20g of protein!

How to Make the Harvest Bakes
In just 20 minutes of baking in their oven-ready tray, you get the elevated flavors of a homemade meal, without actually having to lift a finger! Unlike most meal delivery companies, where you still have to slice, dice, and prep your veggies.
No oven at the office? No problem. Make the Harvest Bakes in a toaster oven!
Are the Harvest Bakes Worth it?
In short, yes. It’s a huge portion for lunch or dinner for 1 and less expensive than any meal I can order. It’s also large enough to split for two adults as a generous portion or even as a side dish for my family during the week. They’ve become my go-to meal builders for nights where I’m scrambling.
Other Daily Harvest Products I’ve tried…
Dairly Harvest Bowls Review
The perfect mix of grains + veggies, all veggies, or legumes + veggies that satisfy most of my working lunches at my desk. Harvest Bowls make eating a veggie-centric lunch super easy at work since they’re microwavable –you can also heat them on the stovetop if you prefer.
With more than 20 options, the hardest part was selecting which ones to add to my box! My favorites are the Red Lentil + Cumin and the Sweet Potato + Wild Rice Hash.

Daily Harvest Smoothie Review
What stands out the most about Daily Harvest’s Smoothies is the ingredient combinations of fruit + veggie that taste AMAZING.
As a recipe developer, I’m blown away at their brilliant combinations that are meticulously crafted to make sure I get another serving of nourishing veggies without feeling like I’m eating… veggies.
I also first learned about Daily Harvest through their Smoothies and found them super convenient since they’re packaged in a cup I can use to serve it after blending. All of Daily Harvest packaging is recyclable or compostable so it’s good for the earth and for you (no dishes!).

Top picks: Chocolate + Blueberry, Cold Brew + Cacao, Passion Fruit + Pineapple, Dragon Fruit + Lychee.

What Comes in a Daily Harvest Box
Your Daily Harvest box is filled with what you choose. This is what I love most about my Daily Harvest Box; trying new flavor combinations, and knowing that I can select how many items I want to receive (9-26) and the frequency of delivery.
I usually fill my box with a combination of Harvest Bowls for lunch, a couple of Oat Bowls for breakfasts, a few Smoothies, and several Harvest Bakes for either big lunches or dinner-time rescue.
You can see my favorite Daily Harvest meals and customize your box here.
Daily Harvest Cost Per Week
The cost per week will vary based on the size of the box and the items you place in it. Below is a pricing chart of all the Daily Harvest products and a sample of what I order per week in a 9-item box.
While this varies by week, I like to have 2 breakfasts, 2 smoothies, 3-4 lunches, and 1-2 dinner options per week.
DH Meal | Price | Qty |
---|---|---|
Forager Bowls (Breakfast) | $6.79 | 2 |
Soups | $8.49 | 1 |
Harvest Bowls | $9.79 | 1 |
Flatbreads | $9.79 | 1 |
Smoothies | $8.49 | 3 |

Lattes (2-pack) | $5.99 | |
Mylk (16 pieces) | $7.99 | |
9-Box Total | $79.11 | 9 |
Meals: Oat and Chia Bowls, great for breakfasts, are called Forager Bowls and cost $6.79 per item, Soups are great for lunch or dinner and cost $8.49 per soup bowl, Harvest bowls are grain bowls that make a great lunch or dinner and cost $9.79 each, Flatbreads are generous portions for lunch or dinner and require baking and cost $9.79 each, Harvest Bakes are large veggie trays that can serve 4 people as a side for dinner or 2 main meals (requires oven) and costs $11.99 each.
Snacks & More: Smoothies are single serve and cost $8.49, and you need a blender and liquid to blend, Bites are great snacks to have in the freezer and you get 7 of them at $7.99 per box, two ready-to-make Lattes cost $5.99 per pack, and you need to add liquid. The Mylk is an almond milk concentrate that’s great to use for blending smoothies, so all you need is water, in a breakfast bowl to cook the grains, or to make a hot drink latte. Each Mylk triangle requires water to reconstitute it and costs $7.99 for 16 pieces and you get 8-16 servings, depending on how many pieces you use.
Of course, you can mix and match the items above, add more, or have a box delivered weekly, 2x a month, or once a month.
The total cost of the same number of meals purchased outside the office without the healthy options would range between $6-$10 for breakfast, $12-$18 for lunch, and $7-10 for smoothies, averaging about $100 per week without tips wherever applicable.

Tips for How to make Daily Harvest at Work
At home, with access to a full kitchen, making any of the Daily Harvest frozen prepared meals is a breeze. And yet, I find that making these at work can be just as simple, which is why I highly recommend it to have healthy work lunches on hand. Some great tips:
- Smoothies: if you don’t have access to a blender you can blend at home and pour in an insulated stainless steel cup for on-the-go sipping. An alternative is to purchase an inexpensive portable blender you can easily keep in your desk drawer!
- Harvest Bowls: easy to heat in the microwave and you can enjoy them directly from the bowl.
- Harvest Bakes: don’t let the generous portion fool you, the oven-ready tray fits in a toaster-oven!
- Flatbreads: say goodbye to unhealthy office pizza with these! They are oven-ready and they also fit easily in a toaster oven.
- Soups: easy to heat in the microwave and can be enjoyed from the bowl.
- Oat & Chia Bowls: 2 minutes in the microwave will eliminate drive-through breakfasts.
- Scoops: from freezer to spoon with zero wait.
