Lewis Capaldi is a Scottish singer and songwriter from Glasgow, Scotland. His breakout single “Someone You Loved” rose to #1 on the UK Singles Chart. The Virgin Records/Capitol Records signee released his full-length debut, Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, in May 2019. Other completed projects include the EPs Bloom (2017) and Breach (2018). Capaldi was born on October 7, 1996, in Glasgow, Scotland. He’s a relative of actor Peter Capaldi and physicist Joseph Capaldi.

CAREER
In addition to vocals, Capaldi plays the guitar. He also learned the drums and piano at a young age. Capaldi kicked off his singing career performing at local pubs. He gained a respectable following through a series of videos posted online. These clips would eventually catch the attention of manager Ryan Walter. Capaldi’s first official single “Bruises” was released in March 2017. It garnered millions of streams on platforms like Spotify. The single’s success led to a recording contract with Virgin EMI Records and Capitol Records.

Capaldi’s debut EP, Bloom, was released in October 2017 by Virgin EMI. It featured additional tracks “Fade”, “Mercy” and “Lost On You.” The project featured production from Grammy Award-winning producer Malay. Capaldi closed out 2017 with a guest spot on Rag’n’Bone Man’s European tour. He later supported Milky Chance on his Blossom tour (January 2018), Niall Horan on his Flicker World Tour (March 2018), and Sam Smith on his The Thrill of It All European Tour (May 2018). The non-album single “Rush” featuring Jessie Reyez was released in February 2018.

Capaldi’s follow-up EP, Breach, premiered in November 2018. It featured two new singles “Someone You Loved” and a demo for “Something Borrowed.” The TMS-produced track “Someone You Love” peaked at #1 on the UK Singles Chart, #1 on the Irish chart, and #58 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was certified 2x Platinum in the UK. The supporting music video has 34+ million views on YouTube. It was directed by Phil Beastall.

Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent, Capaldi’s debut album, was released in May 2019 by Virgin EMI and Vertigo Berlin. The album peaked at #1 in the UK, Scotland, and Ireland. It also charted at #49 on the US Billboard 200. In addition to the aforementioned singles, the project featured a new song called “Hold Me While You Wait.” That track peaked at #4 on the UK Singles Chart. Capaldi was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award at the 2019 Brit Awards. He’s currently touring with Bastille (Still Avoiding Tomorrow tour).
