Audi has really come into its own in the last decade, with the four-ringed German marque now setting a benchmark for what a luxury sports car at a relatively accessible price can and should be. These days Audi is propagating this philosophy with the volume cranked all the way up, producing a comprehensive range of SUVs, sedans, estates and supercars.
The most significant update for 2023 is the changing of the name of several e-tron models, Audi's all-electric vehicle offerings. Gone are the tags of e-tron SUV, e-tron S, and the like, replaced with more traditional Letter-Number combinations, such as the e-tron SUV now being known as the Q4 e-tron.
The Audi R8 will retain its position as poster boy at the top of the performance hierarchy, even though the car will cease production come the end of 2023. In celebration or in spite of this - depending on how you look at it - Audi has announced that the R8 will be permanently available in rear-wheel drive configuration going forward. Previously, the rear-wheel drive R8 was a limited-run version of the otherwise all-wheel drive car, which featured briefly in 2018.
In 2021, the world saw the birth of the e-Tron GT, a fully electric sports sedan and a mobile showcase of Audi's achievements and future plans. The might be closely related to the Taycan, but is distinctively Audi, not just in design, but in the way it drives. With the company changing its focus to EV production and technologies, it will be interesting to see how things play out for Audi over the next decade.
