Dave Mirra was an American BMX rider, rally car driver, X Games athlete and businessman. He once held the record for most X Games medals with 24. He was born on April 4, 1974 in Chittenango, New York. He studied at the Polytechnic University in Pomona, California. He moved to Greenville and became friends with BMX rider Ryan Nyquist.

CAREER
Mirra made is debut as a professional BMX rider in 1993 at the age of eighteen. He went on to win several medals in the X Games and an ESPY Award in 2005. He became the face of Playstation’s 2000 video game ‘Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX’ which was published by Acclaim Max Sports. Mirra ventured into business and had a short lived partnership with GT Bicycles. He worked with Haro Bikes for a few years before starting his own company ‘MirraCo’ in 2007. He served as factory driver for Subaru Rally Team USA from 2012-2013.

PERSONAL
Dave Mirra died at the age of 41 on February 4, 2016. His reported cause of death was suicide via a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He had a net worth of $15 million. He was married to yoga instructor “Lauren Blackwell” from 2006 to his death. He is survived by wife and daughters Madison and Mackenzie.
